Moving content from Home
-
I want to have several pages, each having posts about different aspects of my subject. But after creating an ‘About’ page, I created many posts in the ‘Home’ area (I won’t call Home a page, as it doesn’t appear in the All Pages area). Now I want to rename the Home area to a new page I created; or to move all of the content from the Home area into the new page. Is there a way to do this?

You can rename the Home to whatever you want from your Menu dashboard screen.
Go to https://catbuild.wordpress.com/wp-admin/nav-menus.php
Select the menu to edit.
You will see Home at the top of the Menu Structure.
Expand the Home panel by clicking the downward arrow to the right of the panel.
Edit the Navigation Label to change the name from Home to whatever you want.
Click on the blue Save Menu button to save the change.
Here is the screencast of the above steps for easy reference: https://cloudup.com/cPTU63LY2om
Give it a try and let me know how it goes.

That worked fine, except when I went back to my site the header showed the old page names with Home still there. Then I figured out to go to the Manage Locations tab and make Menu 1 the Primary Menu.
All is good now – thanks very much.

You are welcome :)
You may also want to make your About page a static front page using these instructions: https://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/
Otherwise, happy catamaran building and blogging.
