Would you please post an active link starting with http:// to the blog in question?
You say that WordPress automatically uploads yet here at WordPress.com there are no tools provided for us to automatically fill any post or page with content. These tools are not provided because they are the tools commonly used by content thieves who steal content and place it in splogs. So how are you accomplishing this?

Is it possible that you are posting to the wrong support forum? This one is only for those who have free blogs being free hosted by WordPress.com. All those who have software installs for self-hosting must post to http://wordPress.ORG/support. Please read this entry so we can determine whether or not you are posting to the correct support forum. WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org: The Differences > http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

I am using wordpress.com. You have the option to import blogs from another blog site. When I did it automatically goes to the main page I want it on a certain page. My URL is http://joeydavid.wordpress.com/

I’m not clear on what you mean at all. We can only post to one page in a blog. That’s normally the front page in the blog but we can create a static front page and another page for posts.
    Pages > http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/
    Static Front page > http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/

Exactly where are you importing this content from? Please provide the URL.

Is this a one time relocation of blog content via export/import or are you continually importing duplicated content from elsewhere into a WordPress.com blog?

I’m importing from a website called squarespace.com , the exact URL for that is joeydavid.squarespace.com …I use joeydavid.com which is directed to my site on squarespace.

This would be a one time thing until I eventually migrate to wordpress.

Can we import form other blogging platforms? Yes. See here > Importing Content from Another Platform or WordPress Blog > http://en.support.wordpress.com/import/

Can we somehow import content that will post to more than one running page for posts in a WordPress.com blog? No. However, every post we publish also appears automatically in the Archives and on the Categories and Tags pages we assign to the post.

I’m thinking you should read this entry first > WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org: The Differences > http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ and these entries too http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/

I think should speak to Staff about this part “I imported posts from my other website, an external website. WordPress automatically uploads it the Main webpage, however i want this in a certain page of my site.” http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

Yes, I have done that on Friday, no response as of yet. I guess that’s expected on a non-paying site. I get almost immediate response on the site I want to migrate from. Perhaps I should stay there.

With wordpress, you organize posts by category. You can then put those categories into the top navigation and then when people click on that category name, they get a listing of only the posts in that particular category.

“Pages” that you can create from the dashboard are static and meant for stuff that seldom if ever changes such as an about page. Static pages sit outside the dynamic blog structure so there is no way to put “posts” on them. Read the two following to get an idea as to how you can organize things here at wordpress.COM.

    Menus

  • Unknown's avatar

Thanx for the info..on my current website at joeydavid.com, there are different pages like menus, Blog, News, Pics, Contact on the top menu bar. So when I want to post a personal blog I do so under that heading. If I want to post a news article I post it under News. That’s what I am looking to do on WordPress. I know nothing about CSS, and I like the theme I’ve chosen so far on WordPress because of the side bar menus etc. They need to catch up at SquareSpace.com which I currently have a site.

That can be done with categories. You create the categories you need, such as “news” and “blog” and “Pics” and then when you go to write a post, you just assign the appropriate category to it and it will appear under that category. For all instents and purposes, that is what you are doing over at squarespace.com, they just call things by different names is all. The results will be the same though.

As Timethief says, you can also create a static front page for your site so that the main page does not have all your posts in all categories listed on it.

The categories can be put in the top navigation along with pages such as “about” and
“contact” and such. The custom menu here is very powerful and affords one a lot of flexibility.
