move my followers to new wordpress site
Hello I just exported and imported to my new wordpress site, But actually I don’t want all the content just the followers, is this possible.
My old site is http://www.halfmoonyoga.org and my new one is http://www.yinnewzealand.com.
the transfer is in progress with you now please let me know if you can stop that and just move over the followers not all the content. Best to you

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I see it has already moved all the content but not the followers Help! Can we undo that and un export it all? sorry friends

sorry to be a pain but I have removed the content I don’t want so you don’t need to help me with exporting it back but if you could let me know what happened to the 500 odd followers that would be great

I probably should have gathered up all my questions at once . just wondered if you do happen to move the followers over if they were already following and have now signed up for the new blog will they get two emails of new posts, ie will it seem like they are following twice?

    Hi there,

The multiple questions is not a problem! That’s why we’re here. :)

And since you sorted out most of it on your own, to answer your main question, once the followers are moved, they are actually MOVED, they aren’t copied over to your new site. So they’ll only get a notification from the new site and not from the old one.

And as for doing the actual migration, this is something you can now do! We recently rolled out a tool which lets you do the migration right here:

    http://jetpack.me/support/subscriptions/transferring-followers/

If you run in to any troubles with it, let me know and I’ll take a look!

Wow thanks that looks super easy. I think I need to reword my question. Some of my followers have already moved themselves. About 20. So when I do jet pack will they be doubled up in new site and therefore get two notifications every time I post?.

I think I can do jet pack if my site that I want to move from is self hosted. However if I understand correctly from one wordpress.com site to another wordpress.com site you may be the ones to handle that. Is that correct? Also if you are the ones that do it my question from above still remains, how to stop double up of subscribers that have already made the change themselves
    thank you

Sorry for the delay in response. I had left for the day before I saw your first question. :(

They shouldn’t get doubled up notifications unless they have subscribed by two methods (email and WordPress.com notifications). If they have subscribed via WordPress.com each time, for example, the system will see that they’ve already subscribed and will just say “oh, this person already exists. OK, cool.” But if they have done it in both ways, there’s no real way for us to know so in that case they would (however they can always unsubscribe from within any email, so it’s super easy for them to fix it).

As for WordPress.com to WordPress.com, I can always take care of it for you. Let me know if that’s what you need to have happen.

oh thank you so much, yes if you could do that for me ( swap the followers over to my new site) I would be most happy best to you happiness engineer

  • Unknown's avatar

I’ll be happy to! But first I’ll need for you to tell me explicitly which site is the source and which is the destination. As soon as you do I’ll be happy to take care of it for you.

  • Unknown's avatar

thank you so much the source is wwww.halfmoonyoga.org
    and the destination is http://www.yinnewzealand.com
is that what you need? thanks!

  • Unknown's avatar

OK, you’re all sorted! All of the subscribers have been moved from halfmoonyoga.org over to yinnewzealand.com.

Let me know if you run in to anything else you need help with. :)
