Moving followers from WordPress.com to self-hosted blog

Hi there, I had purchased a guided transfer in August to set up my self-hosted blog. A happiness engineer kindly moved all my followers over to my new site but now there are again some followers on wordpress.com. Could you please move them over to http://www.jennyebermann.com for me and also tell me how it can be that they don’t appear on my self-hosted site? Also: since a couple of weeks my email and wordpress follower numbers with jetpack have suddenly disappeared (1/3 of the registered people). Do you know how I can get them back and what happened as there is no answer from jetpack :-( thanks so much for helping me out, I am very sad about this…. Jenny

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, yes, I had read all the documentation before contacting you. THANK YOU! Jenny

    You’re welcome.

  • Hi Jenny – I’ve migrated the additional subscribers for you. I’m not sure how they subscribed to your old site, since your domain is redirecting to the new, but I’ve set the old site to private, so it’s not publicly visible at all. That should keep this from happening again.

For your follower count, previously we double counted WordPress.com users as both WP.com users AND email users on Jetpack sites. Now we count them only as WordPress.com users. The result is a lower number, but you haven’t actually lost followers. It’s just a more accurate count now, that we’ve fixed this bug.

Hi there, thanks so much for helping me out! I will have a look! As for the e-mail subscribers something must be wrong with jet pack as I had 34 before and now I am down to 13. Some people also told me they’d registered but I never saw them and they never received my posts. I also tried to register myself with another mail address I have. The process works fine but I never appeared on jet pack and I never received a post either. I got so frustrated that I now registered with Aweber for the mail lists :( do you know how I can get the disappeared mails back? Thanks! Jenny

Hi there again, I now looked into my dashboard and I still cannot see the subscribers that you migrated for me. The numbers still remain the same… thanks for all you patience and help! Jenny

  • Hi Jenny – It takes a bit of time for them to update on your end. If you still don’t see them in 24 hours, please let me know. However, if you’ve disabled the Jetpack subscriptions, your previous subscribers (through WordPress.com and/or Jetpack) won’t receive updates of your posts. If you’d like to reenable it, we’d be happy to help you troubleshoot any problems you have with it.

Hi there, unfortunately I still don’t see my followers in my stats… something is wrong with jetpack, isn’t it? Could you please have a look again for me? Thank you! Jenny

  • Hi Jenny – I just found out we are having an issue with the subscriber counts updating on Jetpack sites. Rest assured, your followers have been moved. You can see them here.

But there’s a display issue our developers are currently looking into with the counts not updating on the new site itself. I’ll keep you posted when I have more info!

  • Hi Jenny – This should be fixed for you now. :)
