Moving followers to a MailChimp List

    I set up a new mailing list through MailChimp so that I could offer subscribers a free e-book. If I merge those already following by email into this list (who signed up through the Follow Widget), how can I delete the old list, so that they only get one email each time I post?

    Also, how can I add those who are following me through their WordPress dashboard to this list, so that they also receive notifications in the new format, rather than something WordPress sends? I will then want to purge that list as well. Can I do that (without affecting whether they can see my blog posts in the WordPress reader)?

    Thanks, Time Thief. Not really. I’ve already done that part and have had people signing up for the new list since last week. The challenge is, can I get both sets of subscribers on one list? What about those who subscribed to the new list to get the e-book, but didn’t unsubscribe from the old? Do I have to delete them manually, so they don’t get 2 notices each time I post? And how do I do that? And can I export the list of WordPress followers, like I can the followers by email?

    We cannot delete subscribers and I tagged this thread for a Staff response. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond.

    Hi there,

    As I’m sure you’re aware, you can see a full list of your email subscribers right here:

    http://wordpress.com/#!/my-stats/?blog=42423303&blog_subscribers&type=email&unit=1

    You cannot however see the email addresses of your WordPress.com users’ addresses as this is against our privacy policy.

    If you so desire, we can remove all of your followers for you, however please keep in mind that unless you set your blog to private anyone may follow your blog through the WordPress.com service even after we’ve removed them.

    All right. I guess the WordPress types will just have to stick with the old format, and I’ll emphasize on my blog that they need to contact me or sign up by email if they want the free e-book.
