Moving followers to WordPress.org

BlueHost just assisted me in making the move to a self-hosted site on WordPress.org. One item they indicated they do not transfer over is my community of followers. Can someone guide me in getting this done.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there Sherrey,

The first thing you’ll need to do is add Jetpack to your self-hosted site on Bluehost. I suspect they have a button in your control panel that you can simply click to install, but if you need to download the free software from our site, and upload it onto your new server, you can click here:

    http://jetpack.me

Once you have Jetpack installed, you’ll connect it to your WordPress.com account. You’ll see the option to do that in your WordPress.org dashboard. Then, you can migrate your followers by using these instructions:

    jetpack.me/support/subscriptions/transferring-followers/

I hope this helps. Let us know if you need assistance. All the best!

How are you, thatrobyn? Thanks for the quick response. Dove right into getting this done only to find out that both the old and new sites have to be set up under the same account, i.e. username, and my new site was set up by the tech using a different user name. What it amounts to is that Jetpack is willing to do the migration for me! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. A lot to learn after making the move. :)

    Sherrey,

That is awesome. So glad you figured all that out :)

WordPress.org sites do take some more elbow grease initially, but you’ll be a pro in no time at all!

Best of luck with the migration and with the new site. If I can help with anything else please do let me know!
