Moving from Domain Mapping to other host
-
Okay, so we’ve recently decided to move the hosting of our website because wanted everything in the same place with our domain and hosting (and, more importantly, to be able to customize our
Wordpress themes and templates).Website: gigaloth.wordpress.com
The site was previously “hosted” on WordPress using the WordPress nameservers “ns1.wordpress.com, etc.”, and we used domain mapping through WordPress to have it as http://www.gigaloth.com. I updated the nameservers to the new host, and under Store > Domains, I changed the primary domain from the expired mapped domain back to the default.
PROBLEM: When you navigate to http://www.gigaloth.com, it re-directs it to the wordpress blog (gigaloth.wordpress.com) even though there is no reason it should do that. The way I understand it, shouldn’t the existing wordpress blog gigaloth.wordpress.com be completely disconnected from the domain name http://www.gigaloth.com since the nameservers no longer point towards WordPress?
I did notice that on my WordPress dashboard in Store > Domains, http://www.gigaloth.com still exists, even though it is expired, and I have read that this needs to be removed by Support in order to unlink the sites. Is this true? And if so, who do I contact?
Thanks!

gigaloth.com – sends me to a config screen on your new host – it can take up to 72 hours for name server changes to migrate across the internet – access to your site may be erratic during that time due to caching issues
try clearing your browser cache & forcing a page reload

I’m getting sent to the same place that Auxclass is. So I’m inclined to think it is a cache issue.
-
I’m also seeing your nameservers pointing to your webhost, not to WordPress.com any longer:

Thank you for the help! It does appear to be a cache problem…I had to use Internet Explorer to install WordPress.
Any idea why clearing my cache on Google Chrome isn’t working? Even now, Chrome still redirects to the WordPress site (after clearing the cache multiple times, restarting Chrome, restarting my computer, etc.).
