Moving from FareHarbor to WordPress – Seeking Advice!

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hey everyone,

I’m planning to move my wine tour website from FareHarbor to WordPress. FareHarbor has been great for managing bookings, but I’d like more control over the website design and functionality.

I’m new to the WordPress world, and I’d love to hear from the community about the best way to make this transition. Here are some specific questions I have:

    • Migration Process: Has anyone migrated their website from FareHarbor to WordPress.com? Any tips or resources that would make this process smoother?
    • WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org: I’m debating between using WordPress.com or WordPress.org. I’m comfortable with some technical aspects but prioritize ease of use. Considering my goals, which platform would be a better fit?

Any insights or advice from the community would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

The blog I need help with is: bostours.com.au

  • Hi @harrycawood947!

We’re not very familiar with Fareharbor, but we do recommend that you reach out to their support team and ask what kind of data they provide when you leave their platform and available options for migrating your site out. I can see that your site runs on a bespoke WordPress installation, which helps as you intend to move to another WordPress platform.

WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org: I’m debating between using WordPress.com or WordPress.org. I’m comfortable with some technical aspects but prioritize ease of use. Considering my goals, which platform would be a better fit?

Since your site requires a booking feature, it will need the ability to install plugins. This is possible on WordPress.com, particularly on the Creator and Entrepreneur Plans.

What sets us apart from others is that we offer managed hosting, which means all technical aspects like software updates, security, and backups are handled by our team, allowing you to focus on your content and business.

Just let us know if you have any other questions, we’re happy to help!
