Moving from Fontfolio to Illustratr
-
Hi !!
Please I need a big help.
The tale is: since 2009 I own “chucara.worpress.com”, always using this blog like a portfolio (I’m not a good writing blogger). Few time ago I added other two blogs (accesoriosporchucara.wordpress.com and detelaypapelporchucara.wordpress.com/) just because now I’m crafting other things … so I need to keep the order in my portfolio.
Yesterday I discovered “Illustratr” theme … wow!! this is the theme that I’ve been waiting !! …. the problem? … move all my job there.
Every single “post” is a “project”, and I have not idea how to convert a “post” into “project”.
The second problem: I’d like to move back to chucara.wordpress.com all the content I already have in accesoriosporchucara.wordpress.com, because the Illustratr let me put in order different things … and is the web that I’m using since 2009. I tried to change the blog address, but WP doesn’t let me, because I already own the “chucara.wordpress.com”.
What can I do?
Thanks very much in advance.

Why not choose a theme which resembles Illustratr, yet is designed so that the items in the grid-based front page link to posts. Here are some:

What can I do?You can export the content of accesoriosporchucara.wordpress.com as an XML file, and import the file to chucara.wordpress.com.

@musicdoc1
Thank you very much.
About your first comment, I like the idea to use a Illustratr for the portfolio option, because it give me a better way to put in order my job. Fontfolio theme looks good … I like it, but the reason to move to Illustratr is about organization.
Your second comment is great … thanks very-very much … I had no idea about export the content.
You solve one part of my problem … now I’ll try to fix the other one. -
You’re welcome.
On the first issue: There is no way to simply convert a post to a project. You’ll have to create each project separately, but you may copy and paste the content of a post, from a post editor into a project editor. You may also copy the categories and tags of a post, from All Posts (https://chucara.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php), and paste them into the corresponding projects types (categories) and projects tags (tags) fields of an project editor. -
Thank you again musicdoc1
This is what I want to avoid, I have 78 posts … and copy one by one is too much … but it looks to be the only way I have.
I found this previous forum: Past posts into portfolio projects? :There isn’t a way to automatically convert regular posts to portfolio projects. The fastest way might be have two browser tabs or windows open, one with your regular posts in the dashboard and one with portfolio projects. Switch the post editor to Text mode, and then copy-paste the code from the post into the portfolio project editor.

musicdoc1: do you know how can I recover the comments in my posts to put them into the corresponding project?
After transform a post into a project I delete the post … and with it the comments or likes. I keep the exportation file with me, so I have the information.
Do you know something about that?
Thanks. -
Once, when I inadvertently deleted several comments by a follower, I recreated them by copying and pasting the content, and changing the name and email of the commenter from myself to the friend on each. I also changed the dates and times, to the dates and approximate times of those deleted. I’d asked the friend if it was alright with him before doing so. The only thing I couldn’t change was the IP address.

The content of the comments was copied from my email account, where a copy of each comment is sent.

You’re welcome. You can also paste comments into the content area of a post, page, or project, as I’ve done once or twice.
-
If you copy and paste comments into the content area of a project, post, or page, you’ll retain all of the links and content of the original comments. You can edit out any “edit” links which might be present.
