Moving from Imbalance 2 to Eris
-
Hi, I am thinking of upgrading my website and change the theme I have for the last 3 years to Eris. As it will be the first time that I will change the theme on a live topic, I would like to ask which is the transition process?
Would I have to upload everything from scratch?
Because, I have selected the ”try & customize” option while checking Eris, and to be honest it did transfer max 10% of my info.
Thanks
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

No.
re: switching themes
Note that switching themes https://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/#switch-themes can be easily done, provided you are logged in as Admin under the same username account that registered the site. Themes are just “skins” on WordPress.COM hosted blogs. You can quickly and easily change themes on any WordPress.COM hosted blog to another one found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and no data will be lost or negatively affected by the change. The only time you may have to do a lot of work is if you are changing to a dramatically different theme with different features and/or if you have done any CSS editing.
Provided you are logged in as Admin under the same username account that registered the blog go to Dashboard > Appearance > Themes, Browse themes until you find one you like and click the “activate” or the “preview” link, or type in the name of the theme you want to use when it appears.
The theme customizer https://en.support.wordpress.com/customizer/ provides a preview function for exactly that purpose ie. so you can view what a theme will appear like prior to changing one.
Eris is a premium theme https://wordpress.com/themes/eris/
Imbalance is an old and unique theme. I will type modlook into the sidebar tags on this thread for a Theme Staff follow-up. How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question Also subscribe to this thread so you are notified when they respond and be patient while waiting. @9thartwave your pages and posts will still be there, as will your media items.
Customizations to your theme, such as custom colors, custom menus, and widgets may not be moved to the new theme.

Hi @9thartwave!
If you click on My Site > Themes, you can search for Eris. Click on the three dots on Eris’ thumbnail, and select Try and Customize.
This opens your site in a preview with Eris applied – only you will see it. When you are ready, click Save and Activate to apply the changes to the new site (you won’t be able to save them without applying the new theme).

hi, many thanks for that. But this means that I will have to do all the changes in one session, right? I cannot start working on them, save it and then continue the next day or sth
btw I have a question for Eris, which is kind of important
Can I have the featured works in the main primary menu as well?

Correct – you can’t save your changes to a theme that isn’t active and come back to them later.

Yes, you can use My Site > Customize > Menus to add any items on your site to the menu. The menu won’t update automatically when you add new featured content though, so you’d want to update that manually.
