Moving from Tumblr to WordPress – domain mapping hasn't worked, can you help?
-
Hello,
I previously had woohooyeahyeah.org mapped to my Tumblr, then decided to move to WordPress.
I followed all the instructions at http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/#instructions-for-mapping-an-existing-domain to map my existing domain (woohooyeahyeah.org) to my blog (woohooyeahyeah.wordpress.com).
I changed the NS records in the DNS settings of my domain admin to the WordPress servers last week. I just checked back and woohooyeahyeah.org still isn’t pointing to my WordPress blog, it’s going to a Tumblr error page.
Is it a problem with the A record in DNS? I had an A record for ‘woohooyeahyeah.org’ pointing to 66.6.44.4 (a Tumblr address). WordPress doesn’t seem to have any guidance on whether to change the A record. I’ve just deleted that A record (which might help?). Is there something else you’d suggest? There’s nothing else in my DNS settings in my woohooyeahyeah.org server admin that points to Tumblr (except for email).
Thanks,
Joe

@joefhall
It looks like your domain is not pointing to WordPress.com name servers yet:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-helper/?host=woohooyeahyeah.org
Please go to your domain registrar’s site and log into the control panel. You will need to update the name servers as below:
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM NS2.WORDPRESS.COM NS3.WORDPRESS.COM
For more information, please visit the help documentation provided by the registrar and our support page:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/
If you are still having a problem, let me know, and we can take the next troubleshooting step, once I get more feedback.

Hi pmciano,
Thanks for helping out.
I can’t figure this out. I did change the NS records. I’ve pasted below all the DNS settings in the control panel for my server in case that helps figure this out.
Thank you!
Joe

@joefhall
As far as I can tell, your name servers are not yet pointing towards WordPress.com:
http://who.is/whois/woohooyeahyeah.org
Please try changing them again, and keep in mind, DNS changes may take up to 48 hours to become effective.
Let us know if you have any more questions.

Thanks for your help. I spoke to my hosting company and managed to fix it now — it turns out, the control panel they gave me with my hosting, where you can alter DNS settings… doesn’t actually alter them! They can only do it manually themselves — but I had no way of knowing… not ideal! But glad to have got it sorted out, now look forward to getting my WordPress site properly up and running :)
Thanks again.

@joefhall
I’ve checked out your site, and it looks good to me.
Just in case, clear out your browser’s cache and cookies before visiting it again:
