Moving from twenty eleven to twenty fifteen – advisable?

My blog and over 100 posts have been made using the twenty eleven theme. I like the nice clear simple look and am mostly happy with the theme. You can see it here: http://albinger.com

I am wondering, however, if changes over the past four years in theme development make the new twenty fifteen theme a good one to change to. Like most wordpressers contemplating a theme change there is that fear of making the jump.

Some questions to anyone who has made the switcher is really familiar with both themes – what did you gain? What did you lose? How traumatic was it?!

Themes are just “skins” on WordPress.COM hosted blogs. You can quickly and easily change themes on any WordPress.COM hosted blog to another one found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and no data will be lost or negatively affected by the change. The only time you may have to do some work is if you are changing to a dramatically different theme and have done any CSS editing.

Every theme has a detailed theme description page with set up instructions and a live demo site. I would consult those before I made the switch.

And, the theme customizer allows us to preview a new theme.
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/customizer/

Provided you are logged in as Admin under the same username account that registered the blog go to Dashboard > Appearance > Themes, Browse themes until you find one you like and click “activate” or “preview” or type in the name of the theme you want to use and when it appears click “activate” or “preview”.

After you change your theme all you need to do is go here Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets > Inactive Widgets and re-install them where you want them to appear. The widget contents and settings will be the same as they were prior to changing themes.
