Moving from WordPress.org
-
Hi there.
We currently have a website which was done on WordPress.org. I am looking at doing the new website myself but am stumped with where to even begin….I have a domain and I am billed by 1 Grid (Webafrica) each year for the domain renewal, as well as each month for Linux Hosting. If I map the domain, does it leave everything as is? And if I transfer the domain hosting, what moves over to WordPress.com?

Hi there!
Domain is just an address with which others can find your site. If you map the domain here, you’ll still pay for it to 1 Grid, but it will be showing your new site created here. if you transfer the domain, we’ll be your new registrar. Domain transfers are free with any of our paid plans.
As for the hosting, all WordPress.com plans include that so you won’t need your current hosting. You can read more about our plans and what they include here:

Let me know if you have any more questions regarding that.
