Moving from .wordpress to my own domain

  Hello,

  I have been doing a lot of SEO for my blog under my .wordpress site. If I move to a domain, will all of my back links etc. no longer work?

  Hi @speakorsqueak, if your site has SEO pointing to the speakorsqueak.wordpress.com address, you’ll want some kind of site redirect to send links from the old address to the new one.

  If you buy a domain from us, the redirect to a new host can work automatically. If you buy the domain elsewhere, you can just use a Site Redirect upgrade.

  Thanks supernovia, I’ll be buying through WordPress. Is the re-direct automatic?

  @speakorsqueak if you buy a domain through us, we can point your site to that location, even if it’s on another server. So the redirect would be automatic as long as it’s configured properly.
