Moving from WordPress to self hosting

  I would like to know what the maximum size is for an export file if I am moving my blog from a WordPress.com hosted blog to one hosted on Blue Host.com, also if I do this and close down the WordPress.com blog, my new blog will not be affected, right?

  Hi there,

  When you export your blog it is done to a text file which contains all of your posts, pages, comments, navigation menus, etc. It does not contain your media.

  Instead, when you import this file in to your new WordPress.org installation, your new site will use this set of instructions to go and find the media, download it from WordPress.com, and then update all of the links on your new site.
