Moving from WordPress to third party not the same layout
-
Hi. I just tried to move my blog to a third party site. I obtained the same theme, then exported the blog from wordpress, then imported it to the new site but the layout is completely different, and the wordpress site had more widgets then the third party hosting (most widgets are not even listed under appearance > widgets on the wordpress dashboard on the third party site). Is there any way to transfer it over exactly as it is now (that seems like it would be too easy)?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

No – the Themes even with the same name are changed a bit in the migration to WordPress.COM
The extra Widgets here are so you don’t need Plug-in’s. You should make friends over at WordPress.ORG the keepers of the software you are now using: http://wordpress.org/support/

You can look into the “jetpack” plugin that was made by the fine folks here at wordpress.COM for use on self-hosted wordpress installs that give you some of the special widgets that are available here.
The will be adding additional functionality to jetpack in the coming months.
What you will have to do for some of the widgets though, is to search in extend/plugins over at the .ORG site to find plugins that reproduce the unique widgets here.

You are welcome. It is a little “thin” right now, but there is hope more features will be added to it in the near future.
