Moving From WordPress.com to WordPress.org
-
I’m thinking of moving from WP.com to WP.org — but after reading the pros and cons, I’m not sure if I want to take the chance. Has anyone made the move? Pros? Cons? Is it difficult to do? Will I lose followers? Lose content?
Any guidance/advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Yes, you’ll lose followers. You won’t lose content. You’ll have MORE options for content, embeds, themes, etc. You do lose some SEO, sadly.

I’ve made the move in both directions. See here if you are into DIY http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2012/08/31/moving-your-blog-from-wordpress-com-to-wordpress-org-resources-and-tips/

Thanks for the info. There’s certainly a lot to consider — including my comfort level and the time I have to manage my own site. We shall see. :)

If you are not an experienced WordPress.com blogger then my advice is not to make the move until you are experienced.
