Moving from WordPress.com to WordPress.org to advertise

  Beginner here,

  I bought the $18 per year “.com” package thinking I could advertise with a “.com” url. But it was through wordpress.com . How do I move to wordpress.org in order to start advertising? Do I have to pay more fees and so the $18 was just money in the toilet?

  You hire a web host and set up a free software install from http://wordpress.org You install a theme and plugins. Then ….

  If you’ve registered your domain through WordPress.com and now want it to point to a blog or website hosted elsewhere then you can do this by updating the nameservers. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-management/#update-nameservers
