moving from wordpress.org to wordpress.com
-
I’m thinking of giving up on my wordpress.org site at nokohaha.com, packing up and moving everything to wordpress.com. Is there an easy way to export all the images into the media library at wordpress.com? I guess what I’m asking is how can I migrate, the whole thing from wordpress.org to wordpress.com?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can easily export all of your content out of a WordPress.org installation and into WordPress.com. We have instructions on how to do so at:

I imported once without ticking the ‘Download and import file attachments’ box in the 2nd step of the import process. Can I import again and click This?

Yes, you can import again and select “Download and import file attachments” WordPress will recognize the posts that already exist and not duplicate them but it will import the media files.

and the media files will stay put on wordpress.com once I’m divorced from my wordpress.org server and host. Thanks in advance for your patience. I’m a newbie!

@andrewspittle, I have been following a California Unemployment Extension blog for a long time. This morning I went to check it and suddenly found that it is “protected” by worldpress. I had to register to get in here, but can’t find the blog I need to access. How do I find it in here?

Good News for me! I haven’t made the big switch yet, but keeping track of everything with my own wordpress.org and dealing with my host has been…A learning experience.
I think I’ll be a wordpress.com only guy very soon. There is such a thing as too much. One more question. Could I use wordpress.com as sort of a back up until I make the switch? Just stop in every once in a while and import my posts and media? Thanks again. -

worriedinlosangeles, please don’t hijack threads with unrelated issues. The owner made that blog private; you will be able to see it when/if s/he changes it back to public.
