Moving from wordpress.org to wordpress.com and retaining domain name
-
Hi there,
The organisation I volunteer with has a WordPress.org site, but it is old and cluttered. I am going to make a new WordPress.com website, and use the existing once it’s finished I want to transfer the domain name over from the original wordpress.org site. Is there an easy way to do this?
I’ve tried searching google and the forums, but I’m reasonably new to this, and most of my searching hasn’t turned up anything that looks useful.
Thanks for any help!

Hi,
You can use the existing domain name by updating the name servers to point to WordPress.com and then setting up domain mapping to connect to the content you wish to display. Here’s the guide for that: https://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-from-self-hosted-wordpress-to-wordpress-com/
