moving gallery on a page to a post

    I accidentally added my August 2010 post as a page somehow, including the gallery of photos. I’ve created a draft post for that topic but can’t figure out how to add the photos as a gallery. I inserted the August photos (about 26 of them) from the library – clicked Show for each photo then Insert into Post. I never saw the Gallery option, as I just did with the September post and photos.

    Somehow I have a gallery with 3 August photos, and the rest are just individually included in the draft post – it doesn’t look very good.

    How can I either
    – get all the photos into that gallery or
    – transfer the August page (published) gallery to that post?

    You can use this shortcode:

    [gallery id="123"]

    123 should be the page ID where you inserted the gallery. To find the ID, look at the address of the pages’ edit screen:

    http://example.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=123

    Or the preview page:

    http://example.wordpress.com/?page_id=123

    So far it’s been my experience that the Gallery has to appear on a published Post/Page, otherwise when viewing the individual photos, it will return a 404 Not Found error.

    Before going any further, please give us a link to your WordPress.com blog, starting with http:// , so that we can take a look.
