Moving Media library uploads to a new, fresh installation of WordPress

I want to build a fresh install of WordPress.org in my computer, but I want to preserve all of the posts, pages and media. I’ve exported the whole site, using the WordPress export to a WXR XML file. Restoring that file to a new installation was easy.

The problem is, even though I’ve checked “Download and import file attachments”, none of the files were transferred to the new installation, leaving all of the image links pointing to my previous installation. None of my old media files appear in Media Library, nor in the uploads folder itself.

So, the question is, how do I move all of the images stored in my previous install to my new, freshly extracted wordpress, and also, to be able to browse it in Media Library?

FYI, The source and target WordPress installation is on the same computer.

    Thanks.

Hi. Since you are using WordPress.org, you need to ask your question at http://wordpress.org/support

You are currently in a forum for blogs hosted by WordPress.com and our answers will not apply to your situation because the system works differently.

Thanks and I hope you find a solution to your problem soon.
