Moving my blog from Blogger

  Hi there

  I’m not sure how to proceed with moving my blog from Blogger to WordPress. I’ve followed the stages up until locating the function php file. I can’t locate this at all. Please can you help? My blog has now disappeared from Blogger and noone is able to access my WordPress version.

  Do not read whatever you are reading because function php file applies only to self-hosted wordpress.ORG installs and you have a wordpress.COM hosted blog.

  Many people do this every day. Export a copy of your content out of your .blogspot blog http://support.google.com/blogger/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=97416 and then import it into your WordPress.com blog. http://en.support.wordpress.com/import/

  Thank you.

  I have got to this stage, and have imported my blog to WordPress. I guess the question I’m asking now I have the above info is how do I redirect my blog from Blogger to my WordPress blog?

  The link to my blog just leads to a page that says example.com.

  If you have your own custom domain URL and you want to use that domain URL to map to from http://ggspinupcouture.wordpress.com/then you need an upgrade.

  WordPress.COM hosting is free of charge.

  I still don’t understand.

  My domain name was with blogger and it’s saying that it cannot be registered with WordPress.

  Hi Gail,

  If you’ve blogged in Blogger before, the address would be yourblogname.blogspot.com, and the name can’t be transfered since wordpress.com has their own unique address as well, which is yourblogname.wordpress.com.

  Unless, you’ve purchased domain before, like http://www.ggspinupcouture.com

  If that’s the case, you can map http://www.ggspinupcouture.com to the wordpress.com instead of blogger.

  It would be nice if you could provide us your current blogger url address

  Your wordpress.com comes with a free address, such as http://ggspinupcouture.wordpress.com/

  It’s not necessary to purchase a domain, unless you want a pretty url name like http://www.ggspinupcouture.com/

  Now before we go further on the domain, I’d suggest that you move the content from blogger to WordPress.com first. You can always decide if you need custom domain or not in the future.
