I recently bought a domain (shotofadventure.com) with wordpress.com. I have realised afterwards that I want more freedom with my design. Can I use my domain with wordpress.org?? Thank you!

    Hey there!

You can absolutely use your domain (registered at WordPress.com) with a self-hosted WordPress.org site.

    You have a couple options.

    1. The first is to transfer your domain to your new website host and manage everything from there. They only caveat is that ICANN (The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) has a rule that only domains with registrations older than 60 days can be transferred. Therefore, you’d have about 55 more days before you could move your domain.

      Here are domain transfer instructions:

    2. You can also keep your domain registered here — you’ve paid to have it hosted for a year after all — and you can map it to your new WordPress.org site. Basically you’d be “pointing” your custom domain to your new server.

Here are the steps to accomplish this:

If you need any assistance along the way, don’t hesitate to ask. Good luck with the new self-hosted site! Wishing you the best.
