Moving my domain on wordpress.com
-
Hey, I have an account on wp.com that I moved some days ago on siteground, buying the hosting and domain. Now I want to return here on wordpress.com so I’ve closed the account there and they left me the domain that I bought on their site. They set the DNS on wp.com and left me this guide https://en.support.wordpress.com/incoming-domain-transfer/ . I made what the guide says but when I click on -I owe a domain and add it, shows me:
my domain.com can be transferred in 57 days.
You don’t have to wait though. Connect your domain to your site now, without transferring it.
Newly-registered domains are not eligible for transfer. mydomain.com was registered 3 days ago, and can be transferred starting December 21, 2018.
If I choose -Conect domain without trasferring, it opens a page where I have to pay 96€ for the plans.

Hi @cipollettafabrizia,
As your domain is already registered and cant be transferred as of now,
the best option is to map the domain, which is an annual subscription on WordPress.com.https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
Later you can even transfer the domain to WordPress.com

Thank you for your reply. I wanna ask you another thing.
When I click Map your domain, it shows me up the payment page, where I should pay 96€ for WordPress.com Premium annual payment .
Map your domain (13€) is free with my plan.
But why I have to pay 96€ if I already have a domain (buyed on siteground)
Help me please. I’m getting crazy! -
If you refer the link I shared earlier, it mentions:
Each paid plan comes with a free domain credit you can use to either register a new domain, or either transfer or map one you already own.
You can select either Personal/Premium/Business Plan which will give you the domain credit. Pricing
As per your cart and what you have quoted below, the payment is for the Premium Plan and not for the domain you bought elsewhere.
But why I have to pay 96€ if I already have a domain (buyed on siteground)
In your cart where it is asking you to pay for domain mapping too along with the paid plans separately, but do make sure you have not availed any more domain with the plan.
I will tag the staff where-in they can tell you the exact action you need to take.
Hope i was able to reduce your craziness.
And I am sure we will get through your query soon. -
Hi there,
As @wolv3r1ne stated, if a domain cannot be transferred to WordPress.com, it can be mapped.
I just want to emphasise though that you do not need to purchase the Premium Plan, you need to purchase any paid plan, so you could just go with the Personal Plan.
You asked why this was the case: this is due to the fact that your domain will still be registered with SiteGround. As a result, you need to complete their charges as well as the charges required on WordPress.com’s side (which can be fulfilled with any paid plan).
Thank you. :)

Hi there,
Just to clarify. In order to use a domain (registered or mapped) on your WordPress.com site, you need to have a paid plan.
