Moving my domain to a different hosting provider
-
Hi!
I have a domain bought on wordpress.com (one-penny-trip.com). I would like to move it and use different hosting provider using wordpress.org – how can I transfer the domain itself? At the moment I’m importing my content to the new provider and I am wondering what to do next to let my blog work properly.
What will happen then when my domain expires in August next year? Should I renew it via wordpress.com or via my new provider?
Please help as I feel I’m stuck and don’t know how to move on with this stuff.

Hi Justyna,
You can either change your domain’s name servers to point it to your new host:
Change Name ServersOr you can transfer it out altogether to your new host or another registrar:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/transfer-domain-registration/#set-the-domain-manager-passwordIf you go with the name server method, your domain remains registered here and you’ll renew it with us each year. If you transfer it, you’ll renew it each year with your new registrar.
If you have any trouble, please let me know which step you’re getting stuck at, and what happens when you try to follow it. I’ll be happy to help you out! :)
