Moving my Followers/Subscribers

Please help me understand how exactly to move my blog subscribers from my old wordpress.com blog to my new self-hosted blog. I have already exported and imported the entire site and the email followers for a mail subscription. But, I need to know how to move my followers as well.
Old Url: watercoolerconvos.wordpress.com
New url: watercoolerconvos.com

Followers using the WordPress.COM reader cannot be transferred. there is no WordPress.org Reader to transfer them to because WordPress.ORG blogs are stand alone islands. They aren’t part of a community with shared features like WordPress.COM bloggers are.

I don’t think that’s true. I saw someone on another thread do it and I have 2 wordpress.com followers on my wordpress.org site…

One cannot transfer follower in the WordPress.com Reader into thin air. However, I will tag this thread and have Staff “play it again, Sam” for you. This thread is now tagged for Staff attention. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond.

Actually, now I am confused because I am thinking that I didn’t move my email subscribers appropriately…
Either way, I need help.

Staff can can move your email subscribers only. Followers using the WordPress.com Reader cannot be transferred.
What’s required is:
installation and activation of the JetPack plugin on your WordPress.org install;
posting both URLs ie. the underlying .wordpress.com URL and the domain URL into this forum thread;
tagging the thread with modlook in the sidebar;
subscribing to the thread so you are notified when Staff make the transfer. -

The urls are listed above (in the original post). Jetpack has been installed since the move. Modlook added. What is the “play it again, Sam?” reference? Not getting it…regardless. Thanks..I think.

I have a question Zandyring. When it lists the wordpress.com followers, are they actually followers or do they not necessarily count anymore? Since their email addresses also came over with them, will they now also be email followers? Just wondering how all this works.

We can’t convert them into email followers, because of ICANN rules regarding spam. But what we just recently updated was that these followers will see your blog posts in their Reader, just the same as when you were a WP.com user.
