Moving my self-hosted WP(.org) blog to WP.com
-
I’ve scoured the forum for some direction …
I found this post, while on topic, doesn’t provide instruction … a staff member just helped out.
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/moving-posts-from-my-own-server-to-wordpresscom?replies=6I’m in similar scenario, I have hosted two wordpress blogs and would like to move those over to WP.com. The single most important criteria to do so is that I can move our existing content over.
Can some point me to the resolution/instructions that I’ve overlooked or give me a little shove in the right direction.
My WP blogs are still on a older WP versions, do I need to upgrade them to provide an export function?
one is on WP 2.0 and the other is older than that /shameThanks in advance.

An additional question.
My wife’s blog included many photos however those are linked to via Flickr or DropShots, would those remain portable and function after an import or would she have to re-link all of those images?

Basically, you export the file there and import it here. The reason staff intervened in the older thread is that the file was too large.
As for the photos – the links should be fine since they are off-site.

You will have issues with your videos, if any. The embed code does not work here and you’ll probably have to re-insert them using the shortcode [youtube=URL].
