Moving my site

    Hi
    I currently have a website hosted with GoDaddy and a blog with WordPress. I would like to move my site to wordpress so i can Incorporate my blog onto my site and everything sits together.
    Which package should I choose with WordPress? I would like advice before committing to £250 a year. Thanks

    Each WordPress.com plan comes with features of its own. If you are just getting started with WordPress.com and are looking to only write content, the free WordPress.com plan should be sufficient.

    1. Free WordPress.com plan gives you a blog on the WordPress.com subdomain (like example.wordpress.com)
    2. If you need to use a custom domain, you will have the get the WordPress.com Personal plan at the minimum.
    3. WordPress.com Premium plan offers unlimited premium themes, CSS support (which is not available on free and WordPress.com Personal plan) and the ability to monetize your site + VideoPress (upload videos to your WordPress.com site)
    4. WordPress.com Business plan is the most powerful plan and offers ability to upload custom themes and use plugins, amongst various other features.

    You can look at the WordPress.com pricing page to see these plans in detail.

    As for your needs, any plan from WordPress.com Personal plan and above should do for you. You can set a static page as a homepage (which represents your site) and a blog section.     Thanks for the info.
    Please can you also help me with the following?
    My email and web domain are also currently hosted with GoDaddy, will I be able to move these over as well so everything will sit with WordPress? I essentially want to cancel all my accounts with GoDaddy. If it is possible to do this can I do this under ‘Personal’ or would I need to go for the ‘Business’ plan.

    I suggest you go through that and work on all the points mentioned there. If you are confused at any step, get back to us here and we will help.

    As for the plan, it depends on your needs. I encourage you to read my previous message and also have a look at the WordPress.com pricing page here https://wordpress.com/pricing/ to see the list of features available on each plan. You can choose the one that fits you the best.

    Hi Strikebuys,

    i have just signed up for the premium plan and have gone to pick my theme but it wants to charge me for this particular theme. Do you know why it isn’t included as part of the plan? Plans state ‘Unlimited Premium themes’.

    That definitely looks strange. Which theme is it? And, just to verify, are you trying to enable this theme only on the site you purchased the plan for?
