Moving my site from SquareSpace

  Hello,

  I’ve just recently joined here at WordPress after numerous people recommended it to me. I currently have a website built/hosted and registered through SquareSpace. I’d like to keep the domain but change all content to WordPress template(s). I’m a total rookie at this stuff so I need to know how to go about this…I see that I can ‘map’ the domain here. Is that the correct first step? Can I then cancel my SS account and rebuild the site with WP?

  Howdy,

  You’re on the right track! If you just want to bring over the domain and customize everything from scratch in WordPress, then you can just map the domain as you said and you’re off. Here’s a bit more documentation about the process: https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/

  If you want to bring over any content from your SS blog (pages, posts, media, etc), then follow the instructions href=”https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/206566687-Exporting-your-site”>here export from squarespace, then here to import to WordPress.
