Moving my WP blog to a self-hosted site, problems with the old address
-
Hi, I successfully imported my wordpress hosted blog to a self-hosted website of my own, but for some reason, I don’t get e-mail notification, my previous blog on wordpress can’t be accessed (it redirects to my new blog) and I can’t get stats or akismet to work on the self-hosted blog. Help??

Since you are no longer hosted here, you need to direct your questions to the wordpress.ORG forums as our software is different. http://wordpress.ORG/support

freidenker85:
1. Who are you hosting with now? What version of WP you using?
2. Something I’m curious to learn for myself: So it’s possible to redirect “traffic” from an old WP.com blog domain to a new self-hosted domain? :)
Please advise,
Thanks,

This is the only information on redirecting. I’ve had several people try it and not be able to get it to work, and it requires that you buy the domain mapping upgrade to even try to make it work.

Hi thesacredpath,
How are you? HAPPY HOLIDAYS!Re: the redirect response/link above. Doesn’t say if the Mapping upgrade will work with blogs that are NOT hosted with WordPress.org…do you know if it does?
Sorry folks for the slight tangent.
thanks,

Holidays were quiet for me as I was quite sick, but I’m virtually well now. I hope you are enjoying them as well.
As far as I know, it will work with all web hosts. WordPress.ORG doesn’t actually host anything, they just provide the software and rely on people finding their own hosting.

Ahh. Glad you are feeling better now. :) Have a happy new year!
thanks for the reply, too!

I use domain mapping and it works for me, but I’ve had one guy complaining that when he tries to access my old blog location through his bookmarks, it gives him a page not found error. All other links are fine, and I can still access both admin accounts.
