Moving Old Blog Content to New Upgraded Blog

I have an older (free) blog called The Write Way under gabriellegarbinblog.com. I bought a domain name (iPage) and an a separate upgraded WordPress account (gabriellegarbin.wordpress.com) for $100 but am not sure what I’m getting for that other than maybe theme options as there is no direct support. I pointed my domain, gabriellegarbin.com to my WordPress account) and all is well to this point, however, I cannot get my old blog archives, traffic, etc. to my new blogsite. Further, I occasionally have comments on my new blog site that end up on my old post. It’s very confusing, and I would like to eliminate the free blog but fear I will lose all of my old activity, followers, etc, and worse, I am afraid that I may inadvertently have my new account deleted as well. Any advice? I love my wordpress account and am thinking about a WordPress website as well, so any advice on that is appreciated, too. Thanks so much!

After you do that successfully to make http://gabriellegarbinblog.wordpress.com/ private or delete it proceed as follows.
To delete WordPress.COM blog you must be logged in under the exact same username account that registered a blog to delete the blog. To prevent accidental or inadvertent deletion of blogs, there are multiple warnings given that blog deletion is permanent and irreversible. Lastly, a verification link is sent in an email and must be clicked to delete a blog. If clicking that link does not work then copy and paste it into your upper browser window and click.

Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Deleting blog content and deleting blogs does not remove any indexed content from the SERPs (search engine page results). Google and Bing only clear their caches of deleted indexed content that produces a 404 (page not found) every 3 – 6 months.
