moving on… how to purchase upgraded domain only?

Hi there. I am in the process of moving to a squarespace site and have used the domain mapping feature there to redirect my wordpress.com blog to the new squarespace location. However, my wordpress.com registered domain is about to expire in 2 days. Squarespace does not offer a ‘transfer of domain host’ as of yet so I need to maintain my domain name with wordpress.com. My question is can I just purchase the domain name upgrade @ $18 without having to buy the whole “Premium package” @ $99. If so, how do I do this? In dashboard “My Upgrades” it gives no direction regarding this. Since I am moving and mapping the site to a new home, do I need the “Premium Package”at wordpress.com when I will not be blogging there? Can I just revert to the standard free wordpress.com address that “never expires” and purchase my domain name/registration only?

Hi there!
I can imagine the expiration date would cause stress!
Here’s what you can do:
- Go to Store → My Upgrades
- Click on “Cancel” where you see your Premium upgrade.
- This will break your Premium upgrade into individual components. Then, you can choose to keep whichever features (ie. the domain and mapping) that you’d like, and cancel the rest.
