Moving one of my blogs to self-hosted site

Hi – I want to make sure I take all necessary steps when transferring one of my blogs to a self-hosted site so I don’t lose my followers, subscribers, links, blogs I’m following, etc.

My domain name, capacity-building.com, is not registered with WordPress.com, it’s registered where my site will be hosted, and is currently just pointing to my blog here. It looked like your Redirect service is for domains registered with you, but I’m not sure. If I remove my domain pointer, will I lose links/followers/subscribers/blogs I’m following, etc?

Is there a benefit to installing the Jetpack plugin on my self-hosted site? Is it something I need?

Once I’m sure I won’t lose anything, how do I initiate the transfer of all my content, followers, subscribers, blogs I’m following, etc. to my self-hosted site?

    Thanks!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Site redirect is useful for sites that move from a standard ______.wordpress.com URL to a self hosted site with a custom domain. It can also be useful for sites that decide to change URL’s.

When moving to a self-hosted site, followers/subscribers can be transferred. As long as you set up your new site with the same URL structure as you have on WordPress.com, then any existing links out there on the web will still work.

You will need to install Jetpack in order to transfer followers/subscribers. There are a number of other benefits as well:

As we only support sites hosted here at WordPress.com, all issues with the new site – including the importing of the file – must be taken to the WordPress.org support community:
