moving post away from home page
-
hi, this might annoy you but how do I move a post from my home page. what I mean is when anyone visits my site, the first thing they see is content. I would love a home page that acts as a sales page that reflects my services. The posts can maybe accessed on that home page via a link titled ‘posts’ dont know if this works. I am new to this and I admit I am using free themes, free everything
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You need to create and set a static Front Page for your site.

Hey thanks, this sounds like what I am looking for, you have made it even clearer. thanks a lot. will try that

Do be aware that in this age where we cannot escape advertising no matter where we go, static front pages that returning visitors have to click through every time they visit to find what they were looking for ie. your recent pots are traffic killers that lead to followers unsubscribing.

Thanks, that kind of hit hard. I love to have a blog that resembles a website. Only in the sense that readers can view the home page and quickly gain the idea behind the blog and who it is aimed at. In other words(I know you get my point) as a business writer I would want someone to be greeted by a home page that straight away talks about my writing service and what I can do etc. But the idea that you raised is really valid and has left me not knowing how to proceed. I visit some blogs and am greeted by content, admittedly most of the time it looks good, but I am left wondering ‘what does the blog owner do or seek to achieve? For me a home page was the way around it but I guess there is a downside: Losing visitors or traffic, which is really bad. I will give a thought to what you said before going for the static page. Maybe there are themes that might be suited for this? Have played around with a lot of free ones but I have settled for the ‘Fictive theme’ It appears it somewhat appeases my need for a dedicated home page because it throws my bio right in front of my blog/site etc.
Thanks again for the quick and informative response, you guys are awesome. Just let me know if there is anything I could do. -

I am a technical writer and fortunately I don’t require a website. I work under non-disclosure contracts and don’t lack work. I’m semi retired and cannot wait to cut that income cord so I have only helping my hubby in our business left. One can use gravatar widget or a gravatar profile widget for a brief and/or an About page for an extended bio.

thanks a lot hey for sharing your knowledge. I will read over these links and take the time tolearn.
You are really blessed to not lack work. I hope I get there…one pitch a day lol. -
I know I’m fortunate. I have never once had to pitch my skills for the work I do. I fell into this situation years ago and I’m blessed, but I still can’t wait for this phase of my life to be over. lol :D (no need to reply)
