Moving posts to a page

How do I move my existing posts to a new page?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

All posts appear on the main blog page, but posts also appear on other “pages”, such as archives (example) category pages (example) and even author pages (example). Each of those “pages” is dynamically created when you or a site visitor clicks on the link.

There are various ways to change the display of your site. So, I guess I’m asking what is it you really want to do when you say “How do I move my existing posts”?

    See here for more info:

    “Posts on pages”

I want to make a new page Weekly Photo Challenges and move my existing posts related to that topic to the new page. Since my blog is not about photography I would rather the posts related to the Photo Challenges be under a separate page.

If you’ve categorized your Weekly Photo Challenges, you can use a Custom Menu to highlight those particular posts. This will not stop them from appearing on your main blog page. As I said earlier, all posts appear on the main blog page. The only exception to that is when you have set a static page as the front page of your site.

Please read fully the link I gave you earlier and it should become clearer.

Thanks that was really helpful. I’ve used a category widget to have a drop down list of categories to filter the posts I want to see. I’ve seen blogs using pages to sort their posts but I suppose that depends on the theme you choose.

@znjavid – Again, it might be difficult to understand that these “pages” in the Category widget as well as for a Custom Menu are actually dynamically created when a user clicks on the link.

If you need an example of this, please feel free to look at my photography site (the one linked to my username). There I have not only a category link in my Custom Menu (Gallery Posts), but also a link to a single post (The Gallery FAQ).

Sorry, mid afternoon heat and humidity means I forgot to add that this is not theme dependent. Any theme that supports a Custom Menu, which is almost every theme on WordPress.com can be used in this way.

Yay I finally got that Weekly photo challenge up there in the menu. I thought it was a page when actually it was just a category. (what you were trying to tell me!!). Anyway thanks for all your help. Love your blog. Am following.
