moving smoothly to wordpress.org
-
I decided it was time to move to wordpress.org. I bought a domain name and some hosting space and used the host’s one-click install for wordpress. I think exported my wordpress.com site and installed it at the new address which is http://colourware.org/. So far so good. I then changed the privacy settings so that the wordpress.com site is invisible.
However, is there anything I need to do. What about people who were subscribers to my old site? Will they have been transferred? And what about google? Any advice of the key things I might still need to do – or pointing me to resource to read would be really appreciated.

Provided you have installed and activated the JetPack plugin http://jetpack.me on your WordPress.org install, and you post the relevant URL(s) into a forum thread, Staff will do the transfer of both subscribers and stats for you. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/moving-your-subscribers/#wordpress-com-to-self-hosted-site Do that now please as I have tagged this thread for their attention.

You appear to have three WordPress.com blogs under your username. If you’d like me to transfer your followers, please let me know which blog to use.
You might also consider setting up a Site Redirect for your WordPress.com site to send your site visitors to your new domain.
