Moving stats from wordpress.com to wordpress.org
-
Hi,
I have installed Jetpack to migrate all of my followers to my new site (adistinguishedpalate.com). This was successful!Could someone move the stats from my old site (adistinguishedpalate.wordpress.com) to my new site?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there.
Absolutely. I’ve gone ahead to transfer the stats from your old WordPress.com site to your new self-hosted WordPress site. You can view the updated stats here:
https://wordpress.com/my-stats/?blog=88462353&unit=1Let me know if there’s anything else I can help out with, and happy blogging. :)

Thanks Siobhyb. It looks great!
I noticed within the last few days that when new followers located at wordpress.com follow me that the notification shows my old blog name (adistinguishedpalate.wordpress.com).
Can you explain how this works?
-
Glad the stats are looking great!
Your old WordPress.com blog is still public and I can see that two people followed it since you last migrated your followers to your new, self-hosted blog. I went ahead to migrate those two new followers over for you.
To stop your old blog from being publicly accessible, you can head to Settings > General in WordPress.com:
https://wordpress.com/settings/general/adistinguishedpalate.wordpress.comFrom here, toggle Site Visibility to ‘I would like my site to be private, visible only to users I choose.’
Give me a shout if you have any extra questions around that. :)

Siobhyb,
Thanks for demystifying this for me.I have installed jetpack on my wordpress.com account but I am not
sure why the likes are not showing up on my new site.(adistinguishedpalate.com)
I asked one of my friends to test it out today and there is no record of it. -
Hi there. :)
I took a look at the latest Likes on your account and can see that they were all for posts on your old WordPress.com blog, which is why you won’t see them on your new site at adistinguishedpalate.com.
Likes are tracked by your site’s ID, and since your new site has a new ID, Like counts have been reset to zero; there is unfortunately no avoiding this.
As you old blog has now been set to Private, all new followers and Likes should go through to your new site from now on.

Hi Siobhyb,
I came across another problem. With my migration to wordpress.org,
I verified that the media was successful. I have installed a new theme via studiopress. When I scroll through archives and categories, the media for the periods April 2013 to June 2014 does not appear. These media are located in my library. Can you help?thanks.
-
Hi there.
I can see that the images on your site are still linking to the images in your WordPress.com Media Library. For example, in the following post:
https://adistinguishedpalate.wordpress.com/2014/04/28/asian-chicken-slaw-8/
The first image is linking to a dead end here:
If you deleted that image in your WordPress.com Media Library, then this would have caused the link to break. Do these images exist in your new site’s Media Library? If so, I’d recommend manually changing the links to your images in your posts.

All the images from April 2013 to June 2014 appear in my new media library.
How do I manually change the links to my images? Could you provide me with an example to follow? Thanks.
-
Sure thing! To change the images, firstly head to the editor for the post you need to change. You should then delete the existing broken image and then hit the Add Media button in the editor. From here, choose the image you wish to include from your Media Library.
Hope that helps. :)

Before I start, I noticed that there are quite a few to change manually.
When i click on unattached, there are many in this category.
Is there a one click re-install? Or is it possible to delete the media images and re-migrate the media in one shot?
Thanks for your input. -
Hi again. :)
There are some plugins that could help make the process easier. For example, this plugin will search your site for broken links and missing images:
You could use that to locate the posts you need to update.
In addition, the following article explains how to use the Import External Images plugin to import images hosted on WordPress.com to your new site:
http://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/how-to-import-external-images-in-wordpress/
I’d encourage you to have a browse around the WordPress.org plugin repository to see if you’re able to find any other plugins that will help out with your issue. The community on the WordPress.org support forums may also have some extra suggestions for you:

Hi Siobhyb,
Thank you for all of your assistance. The broken link checker is amazing. It shows me that I have some images appearing either twice or four times. I think this occurred when I imported more than a few times when I noticed that my media library was not complete.
My question is do I delete all the duplicates?
I have checked all the support forums for anyone who has the exact same problem as I do but each one is slightly different. My other question is how do i delete the message below. It appears under the comments box?
You may use these HTML tags and attributes: <abbr title=””> <acronym title=””> <b>
<cite>
<del datetime=""> <i> <q cite=""> <strike>Thanks.

I’m glad that the plugin’s working out well for you! Before deleting any duplicate images from your Media Library, you’ll need to first be sure that it’s not being linked to in any of your posts/pages. If you’re certain that a duplicate isn’t being linked to, then you’re safe to delete it.
My other question is how do i delete the message below. It appears under the comments box?
As your site’s not hosted with WordPress.com any more, these forums aren’t the best suited place to get help with your question. Have you checked out the WordPress.org support forums? There’s a wonderful community of helpers there:
https://support.wordpress.org/
If you’re using Jetpack Comments, you can post on the Jetpack sub-forum:
https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpack/
You’ll be able to get help with your question from there. :)
