Moving the DNS to fatcow.com question
-
I started to move my dns to fatcow and I did so correctly ( I think ) on wordpress but now fat cow is saying I need to contact who I purchased the domain name with. I purchased it through wordpress so it took me a minute to figure out who they used but I think its wild west domains. I now cant figure out how to get a hold of them for them to change the dns to fat cow as well. Is anyone familiar with changing their dns with the domain registrar?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Yes wild west domains is the domain partner you purchased the domain from through wordpress.com.

thank you so much for taking the time to respond. Im also wondering how I go about exporting my blog ( I think this is what I need to do ) so that I can import it to fatcow.com database that I created?
-
I did contact wild west domains and they looked at what ive done so far with the nameserver and said it should be correct on our end. They suggested it may be on fatcows end. I contacted them and it said it can take 24 to 48 hours to get it back up and running. right now if I try to go to my domain – http://www.nataliesvintagetreasures.com it says the site is under construction. I hope wild west is correct and that ive done everything right so far.

Ok still need a little more help. I used filezilla to export my blog which they said I did correctly they are now saying that I need to contact wordpress and get the database backup .sql file to my local computer. Any ideas on how to do that?
-
This is a multiuser blogging platform and there is no access to the database for any free hosted WordPress.com blog – period. What you are asking for cannot be done. You have to create an XML export file as I said above.
-
I did create the xml export file and then contacted fatcow and they told me to contact wordpress.com and get the database backup .sql file. They have not been a great a help in this transfer.

It
s possible that fatcow is dont want you to just repoint the nameservers. Maybe they want you to transfer the domain to them instead. -
YIKES! I hate this bilingual keyboard.
It is possible that fatcow are aiming to have you transfer the domain registration to them rather than just having you simply re-point the nameservers. Just wait patiently for Staff help please.

This guide will step you through the process of moving your site to a WordPress.org instance: http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-to-wordpress-org
Before you export your content, temporarily switch the primary domain at
https://nataliesvintagetreasures.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains to your .wordpress.com address. This way your new self-hosted site can easily fetch the uploaded images from your WordPress.com blog and import that into your self-hosted site. Please let us know if you need any further assistance!
