Moving the images of my portfolio of books to a sidebar on wordpress.com

My home page, displaying my portfolio of books and images and covers, looks untidy.
These need to be transferred to a side bar, and the list of blog posts which is currently displayed in a side bar, needs to go elsewhere. I have been unable to work out how to do this, being pretty bad at IT.
I have seen tidy and attractive website home pages for authors on WordPress.com, which presumably means that they are on a free package as well, such as
one I have visited, where the reader is able to link all the sites on which her books are available through clicking on one image.
Could you advise me how to create an ebook portfolio, with such links, in a sidebar?WP.com: Yes
