Moving the position of the nav bar in Twenty Ten Theme.
-
Hi, I’m modifying the Twenty Ten theme to match my website, and was able to change the color of the nav bar but can’t seem to figure out how to move the position of it.
I just need to move it down a bit, probably about 100 pixels or so.
thanks!
Jeff

Which blog are your referring to please?
Is it the one linked to your username?
I see no colo change there at all so you may be working in Preview mode.
Do you have the CSS upgrade? -

Hi, I’m working on it locally so I don’t have it live yet.
What is the CSS upgrade?
Basically all I’ve done is removed the main header image in the Twenty Ten theme in the php file, and put in a background header image instead. I also changed the Twenty Ten nav bar color to match my site, and am just trying to move that nav bar down a bit.
thanks!
Jeff

What is CSS upgrade?
We cannot add themes at wordpress.COM, we are limited to the themes found in the dashboard under appearance > themes. Themes found on the internet are for self-hosted wordpress blogs using the software from wordpress.ORG.http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/If you have CSS editing experience, you can get the paid custom CSS upgrade and renew it annually. It will allow you to stylize the appearance of themes you find here > Appearance > Themes, but it does not allow you to change the functionality, by editing the underlying template. It does not allow you to remove footer links to the theme designer or to wordpress.com. Also note that CSS is theme specific, so you cannot use the CSS stylesheets from other themes with the themes here at wordpress.COM.
Since there is no official Staff support for the CSS upgrade, and precious little Volunteer support, I recommend that you don’t buy the upgrade unless you have at least moderate understanding of HTML and CSS because you must be prepared to do the work on your own.
If you are considering purchasing the upgrade, you can go to Appearance > Edit CSS. There wordpress has provided a preview function where you can try before you buy.

http://en.support.wordpress.com/editing-css/If you do purchase the upgrade be sure to read this article before starting your editing > http://csswiz.wordpress.com/2009/10/15/if-you-have-the-wp-com-css-upgrade/

Since you are working on a local install, and I suspect you are going to move that over to a self-hosted site, then you need to be over at http://wordpress.ORG/support/ .
There are differences in the 2010 theme used here at wordpress.COM and the self-hosted version you are using so out answers might not be right for you.

G’day TT, we still have an advisory here. Ali’i drive down on the Kailua Kona coast has damage, but not as bad as it could have been. Might be quite a while before that street is opened up again, and the shops along it are back up and running.

DRAT! I shouldn’t have posted that above.
I’m working on it locally so I don’t have it live yet.
I’m sorry but that blog is not a free blog from and being free hosted by wordpress.COM so we cannot help you with it. The only blogs we probide support for here are free blogs from and being free hosted by wordpress.COM
The correct support forum for you to get support is here > http://wordpress.ORG/support
For more clarity please read the sticky post at the head of this forum.

@TSP
We are so tired and worried as we are in between two fault lines here.
It’s not over the aftershocks are still going on and they are huge. -
Hi, I’m using the Twenty Ten theme that comes with the wordpress install, so isn’t that a free theme?
thanks,
Jeff

No it’s coded differently than the version by the same name here at wordpress.COM. We run on different software. The differences > http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

It is a free theme, but the version you are using and the version here are different. Here they do a good bit of tweaking to make it work with the unique features and restrictions here.
