Moving to a paid

I currently have a WordPress blog and would now like to create and maintain a personal website which would mean moving to a paid plan, and I have some questions:

    — Is it correct that I do not need to be able to write code to do so?
    — May I use my own domain name?
    — Am I correct the cost would be $2.75/month without cost increasing?
    — May I select a website template and experiment with it before going live or purchasing a paid plan so I can see if I can do this.
    — Will my blog and website remain separate entities?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi @haiken12

Great questions. I’m happy to help clarify.

You don’t need any coding knowledge to build a site on WordPress.com. You can create and customize everything using themes and the block editor.

You can also use your own custom domain with a paid plan. The $2.75/month price is a promotional rate billed annually, and it may renew at the regular price after the initial term.

You’re also welcome to explore themes and experiment with the design before upgrading, so you can get a feel for how things work.

Your blog and website don’t need to be separate. A single WordPress.com site can include both pages (for a website) and posts (for your blog).

To help guide you better, could you share a bit more about what you’re hoping to build? For example:

    • Is it mainly a personal website with a blog section?
    • Or are you planning to keep the blog separate from the website?

Once we know that, we can suggest the best plan and setup for your needs.

You can also see the available plans here:

    Thanks!
