Moving to new domain name – some questions
-
I have a website made with Dreamweaver (http://www.erlikoslo.no), but want to make a new one with wordpress.com (http://erlikoslo.wordpress.com). Right now I am moving the content to my new WordPress-site. When everything is moved, I want use my old domain-name instead of the WordPress URL, but I still want the site to be hosted by wordpress.com. Question 1) Is this quick and easy, or does it take some time to get the site in place with the new domain-URL? 2) Will all my WordPress-posts and links automatically be updated with a new URL? 3) Can I still log in to wordpress.com to view the statistics, or do I have to do this another way? 4) Will my wordpress.com-site “occupy” my old domain-name completely, or can I still publish content there with Dreamweaver as long as I have a web hotel (host)? 5) Do I have to make a yearly payment to use my own domain name, and if so, will WordPress inform me via email when my payment is due? I am very grateful for your answers, being an amateur at this.

Take a look through the instructions in the Support document, that should clear it up:
