Moving to self hosted wordpress (a few snags)

    Thank you guys, it’s been great. WordPress.com has been a great platform to get me into blogging, and I will continue to use it for blogging about my personal life. However, for my (slightly) more professional blog, I believe that I now need to go to a self hosted wordpress blog. This is due to many little cuts, snags, or otherwise problems, that I have encountered here at wordpress.com (only part of which are caused by wordpress.com), these include things such as SEO, and the inability to use HTML and javascript in the way I would like to.

    However, I have run into two big snags as I move from .com to .org, and I was wondering if any of you could help me.

    1. All this time I’ve been puring special embed links into my blog, this is because I wasn’t allowed to put the actual link I wanted to put in my wordpress.com blog. However, now that I’m at wordpress.org, none of these little embed codes such as [youtube (url)] work. Is there any easy way I can turn these into embed code that will work with wordpress.org.

    2. Is there any easy way I can import all of my media into my self hosted wordpress.org blog, or am just going to have to do them by hand, one at a time?

    Again thanks. And I still think that wordpress.com is a great platform, and will still have blogs here. :)

    Oh, btw, I would like to give all of you a big thanks, especially TimeThief, for the time they spent on the forums, which helped me get into this, it’s amazing.

    All I can find is this:

    Videos uploaded to WordPress.com cannot be moved through the import process. However, you can continue to use the existing videos through VideoPress plugin, http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/video/ which provides an easy way to manage and embed videos hosted on the WordPress.com service.

    Sigh, oh well. Thanks anyway. I guess if push comes to shove, I can change all of the text manually. Thanks anyway.
