Moving to wordpress

    Hi there,

    I’m moving to site from Squarespace to WordPress and I have a few question:

    1) When I checked pricing I see pricing in my local currency but when planning to upgrade I see it many times higher in USD
    2) I tried to import content from Squarespace but it doesn’t seem formatted correctly. Is there anyway to mass fix the formatting (This is text)
    3) Squares gallery blocks show all pictures in a single space, once imported to WordPress they are all placed on the page, can this be mass fixed?

    First things first, let’s get this sorted out. What currency should you be seeing the checkout pricing in? I can get that switched for you pretty easily.

    I tried to import content from Squarespace but it doesn’t seem formatted correctly. Is there anyway to mass fix the formatting (This is text)

    Since they are two totally different CMS systems (and Squarespace is completely proprietary), formatting is rarely perfect when importing from one to the other, I’m afraid. Can you show me an example of a post with bad formatting?

    Squares gallery blocks show all pictures in a single space, once imported to WordPress they are all placed on the page, can this be mass fixed?

    I admit, I’m not sure that I understand this. Can you show me a couple of examples? Perhaps a link to the old Squarespace version and a link to the new WordPress version that doesn’t look correct?

    My currency should be Indian Rupee (INR).

    As for the text, I think it was a theme problem, it’s all good after I moved to basilisk, any remaining problems are probably my fault using bad HTML

    As for the pictures. You can check any of the top 5 latest posts except “Unknown Number: A First Person Talker” which will show all the pictures duplicated and one after another, whereas on Squarespace they are in a gallery. Here is Shadow Warrior 3 as an example

    I do have one last question that I forgot originally: I have one editor so I’ll be making a user for him but we do get writers who I just need to give credit to. Do I need to pay for users who won’t have access?

    As for the images, if you look at any of the latest 5 posts except Unknown number you will noticed that pictures are doubling and are all displayed versus the original at Squarespace. Here is Shadow Warrior 3 as an example:

    WordPress and Squarespace are very different platforms, and while we do try to import as much as we can while staying faithful to the original, there can be situations like this where something that is set up in on platform may not translate to another.

    Sadly we do not have an automated way to assemble these images back into the original “slideshows” they were set in previously, but you can manually re-create them as slideshows in WordPress.com. To do that you can use the Slideshow Block that is demonstrated here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/wordpress-editor/blocks/slideshow-block/

    I do have one last question: What is the charge per additional user? Also is there a price for adding users who I just need to display as authors on posts but will not be logging in?

    You can add as many contributors to your site as you wish, there is no charge. Any upgrade you purchase will apply to the site only (typically to add new functionality that was not installed by default) but there is no “per-user” cost.

    You can invite anyone you wish, and there are several “user roles” such as Editor, Author, etc.

    Sadly Squarespace does not provide a properly formatted “WordPress export” as they state here, so on our end we’re kinda stuck with what we’ve got.

    Since the forum wasn’t updating can you delete one of my replies above?

    I left both replies in place because they are not identical (one contained an update about your text formatting) and because as a matter of policy we can’t take down a reply unless it reveals personal info or contains content that is a violation of our terms of service, such as spam posting.

    You have a concern with having them both there that I am not understanding?

    Is there any way to search for pictures in the media library?

    There is a search box in the media library that you can use to search for images by the filename you used at the time you uploaded it to the site.
