Hi @ziahaq1,
Glad to know you are considering WordPress.com. Sure there is a detailed guide to help you move your site to WordPress.com, here is a detailed support document to help you with it:
https://transferto.wordpress.com/self-hosted-wordpress-org/
Also, if you could share the link to your existing site we could take a closer look at it to provide you any further suggestions. You can even start the process and let us know if you get stuck at any part. Just keep the domain part at the end one’s everything is set.
Let us know how it goes, would be happy to assist you further.
Thanks!

Hi Pawan, thanks a ton for your response. Appreciate. my current site is http://www.theledeonline.com. It’s a news and opinion site. I am currently hosted by bluehost. I am considering moving to WordPress.com with custom domain because I can’t handle technical things. If I move, will WordPress.com become my hosting server and can I move my site exactly the way it is now? including my plugins and ssl. One issue I am facing is moving my url from http to https. Despite buying a certificate, and installing it and changing my urls, it still shows mixed content and I can’t get the “lock” sign in my site. regards, Zia

Hi Zia,
Thank you for the link to your site.
I am currently hosted by bluehost. I am considering moving to WordPress.com with custom domain because I can't handle technical things. If I move, will WordPress.com become my hosting serverYes, WordPress.com will become your Hosting server. You don’t have to deal with technical difficulties of configuring everything from the backend. All the paid plans have a Custom Domain feature, which should take care of that as well. Here are the details of the Plans:
can I move my site exactly the way it is now? including my pluginsYou can have the site exactly as it as also, in that case, you would have to install the particular theme and plugins which you have been using in your current site as well. Custom themes and Plugins are a part of the Business Plan. You will need to subscribe as a Business Plan user, and it should be possible to you to get an exact replicate of your site as well. The only issue might be if there are some Plugins which are still not compatible with WordPress.com might cause you a problem. You can cross-check the list of plugins by browsing here.
Your best way to begin would be to follow the guidelines in the link I provided in my first reply. Move the content, use the existing features, choose from the large array of existing themes. WordPress.com already has inbuilt Plugins and themes which you can help you have a similar site.
You can browse through the themes here:
Here is a result of themes with filter “One Column” and “News” , you can manage the search results as per your requirements:
https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/one-column
https://wordpress.com/themes?s=news
One issue I am facing is moving my url from http to https. Despite buying a certificate, and installing it and changing my urls, it still shows mixed content and I can't get the "lock" sign in my site.SSL and HTTPS issues are managed within WordPress.com automatically. You don’t have to worry about the complexities of setting up and maintaining your SSL certificates and configuring your https correctly. The lock sign will be consistent throughout. You can learn more about it here:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/https-ssl/
Hope this helps, let me know for any further questions. Would be happy to assist you further! :)
Thanks,
Pavan
