Moving to wordpress.org and 3 column theme templates

  This is a quick 3 part question. I plan to change my theme template so that I can have 3 columns. I would like to do this before I transfer my blog to wordpress.org.

  So my 3 questions are – and bearing in mind that I want to transfer to wordpress.org to monetize my blog – are:

  1. With the 3 column theme template wordpress sites, can I place ads on both sidebars?

  2. When transferring to worpdress.org, I understand there is no support, but does the wordpress dashboard look identical?

  3. Lastly, I know in transferring to wordpress.org, you have no available support from wordpress anymore, but can one ask questions in public forums like this to get answers?

  1) themes available to WordPress.ORG blogs are different from ours here. What you can do with them depends on which of the thousands of themes you use. We can’t help with WP.org theme advice here.

  2) Not exactly, but pretty much. But there IS a paid transfer service if you really want.

  3) Not this one. The one at WordPress.ORG but they are much less responsive. If you ask .org questions here we’ll just flat-out not answer you.

  Here on the WordPress.com forums we Volunteers hold hands and babysit other members. We go far beyond teaching folks how to fish. We land the fish and cook it and serve it. At WordPress.org you are in a boat alone, without fish, or much help. You must be able to locate your own answers in the Codex and by searching most of the time. If you do not have friends who have WordPress.org installs then you may end up feeling like you are all alone.
