Moving Website from .com to Free WordPress Website

I am wanting to delete my website (www.kristinkoonce.com) and I want to move my blog to the free WordPress. Is there a FREE way to do this without me having to pay for a program (and one that’s easier than copying and pasting every blog post to a Word Document). Thanks!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi Kristin,

To confirm: your current blog is self-hosted and you would like to start a free WordPress blog and import your current blog posts to your new free WordPress blog?

If that’s the case, here are the instructions: https://en.support.wordpress.com/import/.

I’ve had to do something similar with my blog and it should go smoothly for you.

Let me know if that’s clear and if you need any other help.

Yes, I am currently using HostGator as my website host. I can’t figure out how to export my blog posts for free, though. It’s making me purchase Adobe Illustrator. Is there another way I can export my blog posts?

  • You can follow this guide to export from your existing site and move to a WordPress.com site: https://transferto.wordpress.com/self-hosted-wordpress-org/

You definitely do not need Adobe Illustrator for that, and I can’t imagine why that would be prompted. Give the steps above a try and let us know how that goes.

Note that you won’t be able to use your custom domain name on a free plan on WordPress.com hosting, as using a domain does require a plan. You can set up a site with a free .wordpress.com subdomain.
