Moving website to WordPress– pros & cons

What happens with images that are pinned from my old website– if I move my domain to wordpress and redesign my site with the same images, will I still benefit from old Pinterest and Facebook referrals? Is there a way to ensure this?

Hi Judith,
The only way in which you can ensure that any images which are being referenced by third parties continue to be referenced by third parties (such as Facebook and Pinterest) is to keep the exact same link structure as you have now.
If you are considering moving from some other site to WordPress.com, that can be a little tough as we do not allow a whole lot of flexibility in your file structure. You cannot modify how your site gets set up in order to make sure that images go in to certain folders, etc.
However if you are going from WordPress.com to a self-hosted WordPress.org site or some other site, then you have a bit more flexibility. You would probably be able to create a structure which allows you to set your images up so that they match how they are now.
