    Hi there!

You didn’t mention the site you needed help with. Once I get that information, I’ll be better able to help you.

I did notice that your domain “thediplomatist.com” is expiring tomorrow.

If you’re letting it expire here to move it to another registrar, I highly recommend you renew the domain here as the domain transfer process can take up to a week or more and if your domain expires in that time frame (which it will), you will lose control of the domain.

Domain expiration is a complicated process that can take up to 80 days to complete. During that time, you will not have any control or use over the domain and someone else will be able to purchase your domain at an expired domain auction. Here’s more information regarding domain expiration that explains this entire process:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-expiration/

Please note, this process is set by the domain registrar, not WordPress.com.

I recommend you renew, wait for the ICANN required 60-day waiting period for domain transfers to expire, and transfer the domain to your new host. This is the only way you can ensure you will keep control of your domain. Here’s the FAQ from ICANN regarding the transfer lock:
    http://www.icann.org/en/resources/registrars/transfers/name-holder-faqs

If you no longer want this domain, you can simply let it expire.

    Hello, thank you,

The site I am referring to is travelaine.org.

I am not the decision maker for the Diplomatist site so I do not wish to do anything with that domain at the moment, but thank you.

The only reason I mentioned it is that the domain upgrade was paid for and set up under your user account – and as such you are the only one that can take action on renewing that upgrade. If you are not the one in charge of that site, you might want to let the person know who is in charge of the site that the domain has expired.

Back to your question with widgets: the Minimalizine theme was designed to only have widgets in the footer of the page. Minimalizine is a one column theme and there is no sidebar option to enable widget placement there.

To have sidebar widgets, you would need to pick a theme that has sidebar widgets enabled. Here’s a current list of our themes that have a either a right or left sidebar:
    http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/left-sidebar+right-sidebar/

I hope that helps get you started.
